HILL END STUDIO

 Julie has worked continuously for over two decades in and around the village of Hill End, NSW a place wrapped in a rich history of immigration and art. Julie has many friends in this community and the clear night skies with beautiful stars, frosty mornings, flourishing Wattle and blazing autumn trees have all woven their way into her heart and soul. The work Julie made inspired by her five years living in Asia from 2013-2018 has been summed up by her friend and artist Luke Sciberras who lives in Hill End, link below to the online catalogue.

Hill End

Hill End was established during the Gold Rushes of the 1850s and the town was a flourishing gold mining centre for about 30 years, later to become a subsistence community, particularly during the Great Depression. Since World War Two many artists have been attracted to Hill End, including Russell Drysdale, Donald Friend, Jean Bellette, Margaret Olley, Jeffery Smart, Michael Johnson, John Olsen and John Firth-Smith. More recently alumni from the National Art School have injected new artistic spirit into the town with artists such as Luke Sciberras, Hui Selwood, Raquel Mazzina, Bill Moseley, Genevieve Carroll, Janet Haslett, Steven Cavanagh, Bec Wilson and Julie Williams taking up residences and studios. Hill End continues to be an important part of the arts community of Central Western NSW.
